When and how did Union Station begin?
Union Station actually began before we had the name Union Station. In 1999, a bunch of Youth Pastors met at the local radio station (WAYFM) for "Youth Pastor Fridays". During this time local Youth Pastors, along the radio personalities enjoyed a two hour radio show. During the year 2000 the radio station made some programming changes and there we more and more Youth Pastors showing up. Not wanting to end the fellowship, prayer, the exchange of ideas, or the desire to reach the community - Union Station was formed. Union Station has gone through some minor changes since then, but the core values and mission is still the same.
Can anyone join Union Station?
Yes, primarily we are made up of Student Ministries from various churches, but we also have para-church ministries involved as well. Basically, if you have a heart and desire to reach the youth of Lee County with the Gospel of Christ you are welcome.
How is Union Station funded, are their membership dues?
No, in 2006, the Christian Chamber of Fort Myers, came along side Union Station to help with some of the financial costs. They provide the monthly lunches, a resource library, outreach opportunities, and this website. Their partnership is going to allow Union Station to see some FANTASTIC growth over the next few years!
What do I have to do to involved?
Show up. Yes, it sounds easy, and it really is. We want to support, encourage, build, grow, unite, and help each local church's Youth Ministry in any and every way possible. If you still have questions, please go to the contact page and ask us.
What if I live outside of Lee County?
You can still be a part of Union Station. Although some of the events may not directly relate to you, you may still be a part of the forum and use our online resource library.
